Equine rider support is a process through which I assist you, the rider, with the issue(s) or concerns that you have identified as problematic for you and your horse in your equestrian experience. By working and addressing what your (and, sometimes, your trainer’s) concerns are, we are able to find creative ways for you, the rider, to work through the issues that are constraining your ability to achieve the equestrian progress you desire.

In order for me to address some of the concerns you are having with your horse, I might ask you more in-depth questions that not only involve your current equestrian issue, but that also explore issues outside of your riding life. I might ask questions about your current life and/or work situations to get a better sense of what might be influencing your riding issues. These questions, and the answers we discuss will help me understand how to best help you gain a sense of mastery of the problems at hand as well as the interaction with your horse.

I am a Licensed Psychologist in the State of California. The rider support services that I provide for you under the Rider Support Program are not a form of psychotherapy or treatment of any kind. I, too, am a horse owner and rider, which allows me to pull information from my own experiences as a resource to help you find better skills as a rider.

Through the course of getting to know you and your history, and determining how those things may relate to the current problem you’re experiencing with your horse, it may become apparent that there are emotional and/or psychological issues underpinning or contributing significantly to the equestrian problem you’ve identified. In that case, I will recommend that you seek psychological assistance from a qualified licensed therapist. My role in the Rider Support program is to support you and your horse and not to do psychotherapy.

I look forward in helping you achieve your desired goals.
